January 2012

Dear Ladies of Holy Trinity:

Happy New Year!  I am looking forward to a successful Philoptochos year in 2012.   Before looking forward, however, I want to thank several members for their hard work on recent events:

• Irene Sarris for organizing the Philoptochos Christmas dinner at Athens on 86^th Street.  It was a very enjoyable evening, and approximately $400 was raised for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   
• Irene Sarris and Helen Torney for organizing our December bake sale, and to all the ladies and gentlemen who helped with baking and with the sale.  It is a wonderful fundraiser and a nice way to introduce people outside of our church to Holy Trinity.
• Genny George, Melinda Emmanoelides and Helen Torney for planning the New Year’s Eve Party.  It was a great way to ring in the New Year!
• Irene Sarris for coordinating the committee for the Vasilopeta luncheon.  We had a very good turn-out, and will be able to send a nice donation to St. Basil Academy

Now on to 2012!  We will be having our first general meeting of the year on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 am at church.  In addition to enjoying brunch, we will make plans for the year and hear about some charities we would like to support.  We hope you will join us!

On Sunday, January 29, immediately following church we are hosting a breakfast in honor of Godparents.  All are welcome!

Back by popular demand, the Grecian Carnivale will take place at the Ritz Charles on Saturday February 25^th.  Please make plans to attend and celebrate with your fellow parishioners before the start of Great Lent.

It is a new membership year!  Please join Philoptochos by providing a membership donation to any board member.  Thank you!
